The Shiunji Family Children

In Tokyo's Setagaya ward, the Shiunji family lives with their seven children¹: Banri, Seiha, Ouka, Arata, Shion, Minami, and Kotono². Arata is constantly being pestered by his siblings for his inability to find a girlfriend.⁽²⁾⁽³⁾ However, one day, their father reveals that they are all adopted and, other than the youngest brother, Shion, and his twin, Minami, none of them are biologically related. In the aftermath of this revelation, Arata's sisters begin to approach him "with intentions that go beyond sibling affection."² Pseudo-Incest and Seduction In the paragraph above, I quoted MyAnimeList's description for  The Shiunji Family Children , in which they point-blank state that these girls' intentions "go beyond sibling affection."² It seems as if the author of this story wanted to avoid the issue of  actual  incestuous situations, but continued to push the  drama  that would come from such. "We're not blood-related, but all adopted, so it...

A Bridge to the Starry Skies

Kazuma Hoshino and his family are moving to a rural town. The two brothers, Kazuma and Ayumu, are sent ahead while their parents finish up business in the city. As such, the duo is heading towards the Yorozuyo Inn, the place they will be staying. This doesn't go well, however, as the two get lost, and Ayumu's hat is stolen by an animal. In attempting to retrieve the hat, Kazuma meets a woman named Ui, who helps him back to the bus stop.¹ One issue, though: On the way, he accidentally falls and ends up kissing Ui. Ibuki, Ui's friend, kicks Kazuma and sends him off. Unfortunately for him, these two girls are his new classmates.¹ Sexual Content and Immodest Dress There is immodesty in  A Bridge to the Starry Skies .² For example, the female characters are seen in immodest, short dresses/skirts. Additionally, some of their clothing is form-fitting. A female character's undergarments are seen.³ The Lord forbids His people from dressing this way. In fact, He warns us ...

Himouto! Umaru-chan

Umaru Doma lives a double life. On one hand, she acts like the perfect schoolgirl—refined and hardworking. However, on the other hand, she is a "lazy, junk food-eating otaku". Her older brother, Taihei is forced to do all the housework instead. Thus is the daily life of Umaru and Taihei.¹ Sexual Content As with a majority of anime, there is "Sexualized Imagery" to be found.²  Girls are sometimes in short skirts. IMDb tells us that there "are some brief sexual innuendos" along with nudity.³ Women are seen in swimsuits, and a young man "gets stuck" on a pornography website, where, as you can imagine, immodesty is present. ³ Our world has normalized public nudity; they've modified the definition of "nudity." Instead of nakedness being the waist covering the thigh like the Bible teaches (Exodus 28:42, Isaiah 47:1-3), they've redefined "nakedness," and thus the anime characters aren't " actually  naked." ...

Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie

Yuu Izumi, a high school student, lives a life full of extreme unluck. However, amidst the maelstrom of misfortune, the popular, "[cute], athletic, and caring" Micchon Shikimori, Izumi's girlfriend, is always there to protect him.¹ Sensual Content In this show, short skirts are worn and cleavage is seen. There is also a bikini. Additionally, there's a scene where Shikimori licks her fingers in way meant to be seductive. Does this sound like something God would like? Of course not! First of all, women are to be modest (1 Timothy 2:9). "[10] And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart. [11] (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house: [12] Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)" (Proverbs 7:10-12) Women who dress immodestly are not talked about highly in Scripture—quite the opposite, honestly. Isaiah 3:16-17 speaks of women who have "wanton eyes". Such ey...

Oshi no Ko

This anime starts with an idol named Ai, a doctor named Gorou Amamiya, and his patient Sarina. Ai takes a break from being an idol because she's with child. Gorou dies and is reincarnated as a child of Ai, alongside Sarina , who is now named Ruby. Aqua ( Gorou's new name ) begins to live once more, this time as an idol's son.¹ Immodesty Short skirts are common throughout this anime. Thus, thighs are obviously exposed. Cleavage is sometimes seen. There is also a breastfeeding scene where you can, obviously, see a lot of Ai's breast. Additionally: "A character is only wearing underwear for half of [an] episode."² This is not modest. The Lord calls this sin. The Bible teaches us that women are to dress modestly. Do you think that anime with such content is pleasing to God? "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;" (1 Timothy 2:9) L...

Engaged to the Unidentified

This anime is about the romance between Kobeni and Hakuya, who are arranged to be married. Hakuya and his sister, Mashiro move in with Kobeni, Benio, and the girls' mother (who is generally absent in the show).¹ Inappropriate Content As with most high-school anime, the women are in short skirts. There are also some inappropriate jokes made about Kobeni's breasts. ²  During the opening, you can see pictures of different characters dressed immodestly. ² In the special Mikakunin de Shinkoukei: Mite. Are ga Watashitachi no Tomatteiru Ryokan yo., characters' naked bodies can be seen, with only their genitals covered. "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;" (1 Timothy 2:9) Benio, in one of her dreams, is seen dressed as a prince. Cross-dressing is wicked in the sight of God. "¶ The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neith...

Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence

For this anime, it was hard to pin anything down. Not because there aren't things in it, but because neither IMDb nor Common Sense Media have anything written about its contents. I had watched this show soon after it was released (yes, I used to watch anime) so most of what I say is based upon my memory, but I tried to find sources for accuracy. Ecumenical Christianity This show has many crosses throughout. Lawrence (the pastor) and Cecilia (the saint) run the church right outside their town. Due to the usage of "pastor" and "saint," the crosses, and the church looking like the average old-time Baptist church, many have claimed the anime as a "Christian anime." The term "pastor" is mostly associated with non-denominational and Baptist groups while calling someone a "saint" (in an unbiblical sense) tends to be Catholic and Orthodox. Additionally, the way the "church" in this world is, it is somewhat of an ecclesiastical hi...

Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian

This anime is about a guy named Kuze and a girl named Alya. The whole show is about her flirting with him in Russian while simultaneously unaware he understands Russian. There are many things wrong with this show. Immodest/Sexual Content First off, I'll get this out of the way, there is immodesty galore. Not only are the women in miniskirts, but, as the IMDb page states: "A glimpse of a girl's underwear is shown." "A character is shown changing in a fitting room. Bra and underwear shown but no nudity." "Multiple characters are seen in swimsuits during the opening." "A character accidentally touches a girl's crotch while putting on her socks for her." "A character brings a magazine to school featuring idols in swimsuits on the cover."¹ As you can see, there is a lot (and the IMDb page has more) of perverted things in this show. There is a scene where Alya and another girl are hypnotized and begin to strip. This is n...
