You Are Ms. Servant

This anime is about a man named Hitoyoshi Yokoya who wakes up one day to find a girl at his door. This woman asks to be his servant, having been referred there by her former master. However, she has a dark past as an assassin. Scared by this knowledge, Hitoyoshi sends her away.¹

This doesn't last long as Hitoyoshi rushes after her, intending to return something she'd accidentally left behind. In his rush, he almost gets hit by a truck, but is saved by the mysterious woman. Hitoyoshi brings her in. Despite having requested to be his maid, she has no domestic abilities, yet Hitoyoshi names her Yuki and takes her in, offering her a chance to start a new life.¹

Violence

There is some violence in the show.² Common Sense Media says Yuki has flashbacks of when she was an assassin.³ Additionally, listed are "dangerous situations like kidnapping, combat, ... lasers, guns, super strength, punching, kicking, blades, whips, and bombs."³

The Scriptures are clear that violence is wrong. "Do violence to no man," is what John Baptist said (Luke 3:14). Who knows what's right? God through John the Baptist, or this anime created by an unbeliever? God opposes violence, and we should not find enjoyment or entertainment in it either.

"The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth." (Psalm 11:5)

Immodesty

You Are Ms. Servant contains immodesty, both in appearance and action.⁽²⁾⁽³⁾ One character, "posing as a school nurse", says improper things towards a teen boy before climbing on top of him, attempting to seduce him.³ Additionally, a woman's undergarment is seen, as well as one who wears skin-tight clothing.⁴ Perhaps I shall be accused of nitpicking, but Yuki has braided hair.⁵ Let's look at the Bible.

"In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;" (1 Timothy 2:9)

Notice the things listed as being contrary to biblical modesty. This list is not comprehensive, but these are some of the areas that the LORD cares about. He plainly states that broided (braided) hair is immodest. Additionally, when one considers Proverbs 7:10, that there is such a thing as the "attire of an harlot," it becomes increasingly clear where Jehovah stands on this anime.

Conclusion

Christians who care about biblical morality cannot watch this show. The things it portrays and places before its viewers' eyes are evil. It is about time that we get up and wake up! Throw away what you "enjoy," because God does not care. The Lord has given us a clear moral standard, and when we violate that, He does not take pleasure nor does He find it okay.

Are There "Christian Anime"?

Are there "Christian anime"? Many anime-watching believers would affirm that there are. But what constitutes a "Christian anime"? What is the criterion by which we determine if something is Christian or not (e.g., anime, movies, video games)? Now, the term "Christian anime" is used, based on my personal experience, by a YouTuber Christian Anime Podcast , and those who listen to him. Whenever he says "Christian anime," what he means by that is an anime that contains Christian values. Thus, an anime may be full of idolatry, violence, and even severe immodesty, yet if it "teaches something" like forgiveness, it is called Christian. However, I would like to bring the Scriptures into this. What does the Bible say makes something Christian? What Does it Mean to be Christian? I find it appropriate to look at the first mention of Christians (by this term) in Scripture. In Acts 11, the believers at Antioch were called Christians for the first ti...

Pokémon

Pokémon was a show many grew up watching. People will certainly feel personally attacked when I speak of the wicked things found in the show. Many have spoken on Pokémon long before me, and they have been ridiculed—I am not expecting any other response. Immodesty Just like the average anime in which there are beach episodes, the woman are in bikinis.¹ On top of this, woman are in tight-fitting and revealing clothing. "Various female characters-notably the recurring character of Jessie-wear clothing that is revealing, tight-fitting, or both." ¹ "As is typical with anime, female characters wear short skirts, breast-enhancing tops."² Bikinis, short skirts, tight clothing, etc. are anything but modest. It's utter filth. As Paul relays to us: "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;" (1 Timothy 2:9) When a show has immodesty in it, espe...

Against Anime

180AD "Against Heresies" - Irenaeus 2025AD "Against Anime" - Me I believe watching most, if not all anime, to be sinful. One may ask how I can make such a brazen statement. That's what this essay is for; I'd like to explain my case against anime. What is Anime? We must first define "anime." Anime, as I have gathered, refers to animation originating from Japan. This means that American cartoons (even if they look like anime) are not considered proper anime. Now, there's a little nuance as some consider donghua (Chinese animations) and Korean animations to be anime, while others make distinctions. For the purpose of this blog, we go with the latter definition which excludes donghua and Korean animation (though there is sometimes overlap). Thus, the running definition for anime I've come up with is: Anime , noun : Animation originating from Japan.  Why is Anime Bad? Now that we have a definition for anime, let's look at what makes me ...
