Princess Connect! Re:Dive

"In the continent of Astraea, a man falls from the sky".¹ His name is Yuuki, and aside from his name, he has lost all memory. An elven girl named Kokkoro guides him, teaching him about how the world they're in works, including battling monsters, which is one such thing. Requiring money for their travels, they decide to take a job at a local guild. On this mission, they meet Pecorine, a skilled fighter. Additionally, they find a mage nekomimi, Karyl. They decide to start their own guild, and the quartet travels, seeking to find out the "mysteries behind Yuuki's missing memories."¹

Immodest and Sexual Content

We are told that this anime has immodest and sexual content.² Women in this show wear short skirts, and several of them have exposed cleavages. IMDb states that girls "are seen partially nude" and that some "female characters wear suggestive clothing."³ Additionally, a woman has pixelated magazines of naked women.³

Not only does the improper clothing condemn this anime, but so does the lesbianism of a woman being into naked female magazines. The Scriptures comment on both of these. Romans 1:26 explicitly forbids lesbianism as contrary to nature. But it does not end there, for in verse 31, it goes further and actually forbids the very desire of those things. The anime lady character is sinning by desiring those things.

As mentioned above, there is also immodest clothing. The Scriptures reveal to us that women are to be modestly dressed. Does it ever strike you as agenda pushing (i.e., intentionally making the world more degenerate)? They do not put immodesty on the screen for no reason; it is to entice people to lust after these characters, drawing them further into the show so that they'll keep watching.

"[26] My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways. [27] For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit." (Proverbs 23:26-27)

We need to be very careful about what we watch.

Nekomimi

Earlier, I stated that a character, Karyl, was a nekomimi. Now, perhaps you are not familiar with that term. It is a kemonomimi, a humanoid character with animal-like features (in the case of nekomimi, specifically a feline tail and ears). This is utterly wicked!

One may object, stating that such a creature is never found in Scripture, and thus is allowed. However, that is not so. Let's look at what the Bible says.

"Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion." (Leviticus 18:23)

Humans are not beasts, and beasts are not human. The Lord states that those are not to mix. He calls this mixing of beast and man confusion. During Creation, God made each beast "after his kind," but made man in His image (Genesis 1:24-27). The Bible clearly makes a distinction between the beast and the human, one that should never be crossed.

Magic

Sadly, this is not where this situation ends. Karyl is a mage, or, as MyAnimeList puts it, "a cat girl specializing in magic."¹ This magic (witchcraft) is used for violence. Jehovah God tells us that such things are contrary to moral living. In Deuteronomy 18:10-11, it lists many different forms of witchcraft. Both the verse before (verse 9) and the verse after (verse 12) state that these things are abominations in the sight of God.

"Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing." (Deuteronomy 7:26)

As you see, the Bible states that they were not to even bring an abomination into their house! Yet Christians believe it's okay to bring it into their houses, and then dare to enjoy the abominations?

Profanity

We are also told that the show has some bad language.² However, such language is not befitting of what Christians consume. In the Book of Proverbs, it states the following:

"[23] Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. [24] Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee." (Proverbs 4:23-24)

Notice what it says. We are to keep, that is, guard, our hearts, because what is inside will come out (cf. Matthew 15:19). We guard our hearts by putting away the froward mouth and perverse lips! If we want to keep our minds pure, like Scripture commands, we need to keep this anime away from us.

Conclusion

Continuing in Proverbs 4, the next verse says as follows:

"Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee." (Proverbs 4:25)

Another way we guard our hearts is by not looking at bad things. It commands, "let thine eyelids look straight before thee." Look to that which is good, that which is pure and lovely! Don't pollute your mind and heart with evil things.

Against Anime

180AD "Against Heresies" - Irenaeus 2025AD "Against Anime" - Kenyon Bowers I believe watching most, if not all anime, to be sinful. One may ask how I can make such a brazen statement. That's what this essay is for; I'd like to explain my case against anime. What is Anime? We must first define "anime." Anime, as I have gathered, refers to animation originating from Japan. This means that American cartoons (even if they look like anime) are not considered proper anime. Now, there's a little nuance as some consider donghua (Chinese animations) and Korean animations to be anime, while others make distinctions. For the purpose of this blog, we go with the latter definition which excludes donghua and Korean animation (though there is sometimes overlap). Thus, the running definition for anime I've come up with is: Anime , noun : Animation originating from Japan.  Why is Anime Bad? Now that we have a definition for anime, let's look at wha...

Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence

For this anime, it was hard to pin anything down. Not because there aren't things in it, but because neither IMDb nor Common Sense Media have anything written about its contents. I had watched this show soon after it was released (yes, I used to watch anime) so most of what I say is based upon my memory, but I tried to find sources for accuracy. Ecumenical Christianity This show has many crosses throughout. Lawrence (the pastor) and Cecilia (the saint) run the church right outside their town. Due to the usage of "pastor" and "saint," the crosses, and the church looking like the average old-time Baptist church, many have claimed the anime as a "Christian anime." The term "pastor" is mostly associated with non-denominational and Baptist groups while calling someone a "saint" (in an unbiblical sense) tends to be Catholic and Orthodox. Additionally, the way the "church" in this world is, it is somewhat of an ecclesiastical hi...

Christian Anime Podcast Exposed

"Fiction doesn't condone sin." - Kenyon Bowers There is a YouTuber with a couple thousand subscribers known as "Christian Anime Podcast." He claims he is "The leading Christian voice on AniTube"¹ and promotes what he calls "Christian anime." However, there are some things we can learn and reasons to avoid him. This is not meant to just attack him personally, but rather to inform and to show the results of his stance. First , he labels wicked things "Christian." There are so many examples of this. I would like to reference a specific one, however. " That Time My Wife Reincarnated as an Elementary Schooler is a Christian anime."² What does he mean that such an anime is a Christian anime? Neither reincarnation/possession nor borderline pedophilia are Christian. This just shows he will label wicked things as "Christian" because "it has a good lesson you can get from it." If that's merely all it take...
