Mission: Yozakura Family

Taiyou lost his family in a car accident, and despite his efforts to pull away from Mutsumi Yozakura, his childhood friend, she continues to be a present part of his life. However, one day, Taiyou is called into the office of the school's vice president, who just so happens to be Mutsumi's eldest brother. He threatens Taiyou's life. "Taiyou is swept away by a stranger and eventually awakens to Mutsumi" and her siblings, who are spies.¹ Mutsumi, the head of the household, happens to be the only one without superhuman powers, and as such, must be protected. Her eldest brother, Kyoichiro, views Taiyou as a threat. The Yozakura family has a rule: that they cannot kill family members. As such, the only way to protect both Taiyou and Mutsumi is for the pair to marry.¹

Violence

In this show, you will find murder and violence.² The Bible is clear that we are to do "violence to no man" (Luke 3:14) and that God hates "him that loveth violence" (Psalm 11:5). The Lord is clear that murder is wrong.

"[4] But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat. [5] And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man. [6] Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man." (Genesis 9:4-6)

The act of murder, which is something there is quite a bit of in this anime, is evil. We should not watch anime that show violence and murder.

Profanity

We are told that the anime has some improper language in it.⁽²⁾⁽³⁾ This is not what God would have us listen to. We should fill our minds with wholesome things, things Jesus would approve of. However, often, Christians think it's okay to listen to profanity simply because "I didn't say it, they did!" In 2 Peter 2:7-8, we read about Lot, Abraham's nephew. It says that what Lot was surrounded by—what he saw and heard—vexed his soul. I don't know about you, but I do not want a vexed soul!

"[29] Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. [30] And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption." (Ephesians 4:29-30, emphasis and underline mine)

When people, especially believers, use bad language, the Spirit is grieved. Christians, when they surround themselves with and consume media containing profanity, it gets into their mind, making them automatically react with profanity, even if it doesn't make it to their mouth. Philippians 4:8 tells us to think on things that are honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report.

Cross-Dressing

In an episode, Taiyo is seen cross-dressing as a female secretary. This contradicts God's law, which states that men and women are not to wear each other's clothing. In Deuteronomy 22:5, the Lord calls the transvestite an abomination.

"¶ The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God." (Ibid.)

Why would we want to watch something like this? Deuteronomy 7:26 tells us not to "bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it". We are told to "utterly detest it" and "utterly abhor it". Does this anime sound like a thing Christians should be consuming?

Conclusion

Just based on this information, we can judge righteously. This anime does not honor the LORD—in fact, it is the opposite of God-honoring. Everything we watch affects us, even if we refuse to admit that fact. Jehovah God knows this, and that is why, in Psalm 101:3, it says not to look at wickedness—it seeps into your mind and, if nothing else, makes you apathetic towards sin.

Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence

For this anime, it was hard to pin anything down. Not because there aren't things in it, but because neither IMDb nor Common Sense Media have anything written about its contents. I had watched this show soon after it was released (yes, I used to watch anime) so most of what I say is based upon my memory, but I tried to find sources for accuracy. Pokémon was a show many grew up watching. People will certainly feel personally attacked when I speak of the wicked things found in the show.
