Why Does Nobody Remember Me in This World?

In the peace succeeding the great war of the five rival races, the world is overwritten.¹ Now, in this rewritten world (i.e., a world with an alternate history), humans lost the great war and are in hiding. Kai, a human, retains his memories of the prior world. He finds a chained woman named Rinne who is of an unknown race.² Together, they help the humans in the war.

Immodesty

This show has some inappropriate clothing. For example, Rinne's cleavage can be seen through most of the anime, as well as her thighs. We are told:

"Several female characters in the series wear clothing that exposes varying amounts of cleavage."

"There is a scene in which a girl runs out of the shower: though she covers herself with a towel, much of her chest is still exposed."

"Episode 9 contains scenes of male and female characters bathing in a hot spring. Some of the female characters can be seen standing with their backsides visible.

The Bible teaches that we are to be modest. Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, said the following:

"In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;" (1 Timothy 2:9)

We clearly understand that immodesty is not okay. It is wicked and not something Christians ought to watch.

Cross-Dressing

A woman named Jeanne pretends to be a guy and dresses like one. The Bible says that women are supposed to be women and men are supposed to be men.

"¶ The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God." (Deuteronomy 22:5)

Cross-dressing is a great evil and should not be put before our eyes.

Demons and Magic

One of the races in the anime is the demons.² There are a lot of characters who use magic, including the demon queen, Vanessa, and Rinne.² We know that magic is contrary to God and His Word. As it says in 1 Samuel:

"For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft..." (1 Samuel 15:23a)

Notice, it compares rebellion to the sin of witchcraft. This means witchcraft is, itself, a sin. God hates magic, which is clear throughout the Scriptures.

False Gods

Within this anime, there is a goddess named Arsla Solaka.² Additionally, there is a god-like creature called the Last Riser, who is the arch-antagonist of the show.² Do you think the Lord wants us to watch this?

"[6] Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God...[8] Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any." (Isaiah 44:6-8)

God is clear that there is no God besides Him, not a goddess, not another transcendent being. God is the only one worthy of worship and the only God. All other "gods" are but naught. This goddess has a prophet named Sid.²

Conclusion

We should not watch a show with false gods. We should not consume an anime with wickedness like this. May we follow the Bible above all else!

Are there "Christian anime"? Many anime-watching believers would affirm that there are. But what constitutes a "Christian anime"? What is the criterion by which we determine if something is Christian or not (e.g., anime, movies, video games)? Now, the term "Christian anime" is used, based on my personal experience, by a YouTuber Christian Anime Podcast , and those who listen to him. Whenever he says "Christian anime," what he means by that is an anime that contains Christian values. Within Christianity, there will always be those who compromise their biblical standards upon the altar of pleasure and entertainment. Just as this has been a struggle in the past, it is still a struggle for thousands of Christians worldwide.
