Masamune-kun's Revenge

This anime is about a man named Masamune who was rejected by his childhood crush, Aki, for being overweight. He becomes bitter and swears to get revenge. He works to become the "best version" of himself in order to win Aki's heart before crushing it himself.¹

Immodesty

There is "Sexualized Imagery" and "Suggestive Dialogue" in this anime.² Women's thighs are seen. This is not okay. IMDb lists these things in it:

"The main [female character] is seen in her underwear briefly."

"There are some pool scenes where girls are shown in a bikini."

"A character's underwear is shown after she trips and falls."³

Do you think this is pleasing to the Lord? We know it isn't because the Bible tells that women are to dress modestly.

"In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;" (1 Timothy 2:9)

We should not watch this media because it is improper.

Language

According to Crunchyroll, this show also contains profanity.² The Lord tells us about Lot, Abraham's nephew, who was in the city of Sodom. The Bible says that he (Lot) vexed his righteous soul by hearing and seeing the wickedness of the city (2 Peter 2:8). What we listen to is important.

Effeminate

The character, Kojuro, is effeminate.⁴ Despite being a male, he is feminine. This clearly goes against the Bible in that men are supposed to be men. The Book of 1 Samuel says "Be strong, and quit yourselves like men" (1 Samuel 4:9). Men are supposed to act like men! Paul, in his Epistle to the Corinthian church, says the following:

"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind," (1 Corinthians 6:9)

This verse explicitly forbids men from being effeminate, as it lists it in the midst of a vice list. This effeminate character is not in line with the God's moral standard.

Conclusion

As you can tell, this anime is not pleasing to the Lord Almighty. May His children realize this and avoid it like the plague! Jesus saved us, and it is the "grace of God" that teaches us that we should live "soberly, righteously, and godly" so Christ may "purify unto himself a peculiar people" (Titus 2:11-14).

For this anime, it was hard to pin anything down. Not because there aren't things in it, but because neither IMDb nor Common Sense Media have anything written about its contents. I had watched this show soon after it was released (yes, I used to watch anime) so most of what I say is based upon my memory, but I tried to find sources for accuracy. "Fiction doesn't condone sin." - Kenyon Bowers There is a YouTuber with a couple thousand subscribers known as "Christian Anime Podcast." He claims he is "The leading Christian voice on AniTube"¹ and promotes what he calls "Christian anime." However, there are some things we can learn and reasons to avoid him. This is not meant to just attack him personally, but rather to inform and to show the results of his stance. First , he labels wicked things "Christian." There are so many examples of this. I would like to reference a specific one, however. " That Time My Wife Reincarnated as an Elementary Schooler is a Christian anime."² What does he mean that such an anime is a Christian anime?
