Hitori (nicknamed Bocchi) is a socially awkward guitarist. Nijika, the extrovert, invites Bocchi to join their band when their own guitarist "flees before their first show."¹ They bring her into their group and begin to work to become better musicians.¹
Immodesty
There are many times women's thighs are exposed (often due to short skirts). Bocchi is seen wearing a swimsuit² as well as a bikini (episode eleven)³. Part of Bocchi's thigh is exposed when she is seen wearing black tape (episode eleven³). One of the side characters has braided hair.⁴ Let's see what the Scriptures say.
"In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;" (1 Timothy 2:9)
We see broided (braided) hair listed, as well as the general command to be modestly dressed. This simply isn't what happens in the show—there is inappropriate clothing.
Alcohol
Alcohol is found in this show, as well as drunkenness. IMDb says:
"There is one character that is seen drinking multiple times."²
The character being referred to is Kikuri Hiroi, who is known to be an alcoholic.⁴ Do you notice anything wrong with this? Well, you should! The Bible is clear that alcohol is wrong (Leviticus 10:9-10) as well as drunkenness!
"And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;" (Ephesians 5:18)
God calls drunkenness a sin, yet people think it is fine to put before our eyes?
Profanity
There is some language found in this anime.² Do you think God would be pleased with you listening to such wicked communication? The Bible says that "evil communications corrupt good manners" (1 Corinthians 15:33). If Lot can vex his soul by what he heard (2 Peter 2:8), do you think you will be able to come out unaffected?
Conclusion
As we see, this anime is not alright. It has wicked things in it which the Lord does not approve of. We should seek what God tells us to do rather than what we want to do. If we are to follow the Scriptures, we cannot watch Bocchi the Rock!.
