My Hero Academia is a popular anime about a boy with a dream to be a superhero, but doesn't have a quirk (i.e., superpower). Being one of the most popular anime today, I feel it's important to look at its contents.
Immodesty
The women in this anime have inappropriate clothing options. Their clothes are either tight or revealing or both.¹
"While the show attempts to address the practicality of these outfits (some quirks relay on skin contact, for example) the show does take advantage of these moments for some fanservice shots."¹
"There's a female character who can grow giant and wears a skintight outfit, the lower part of which is flesh-colored."
"A character's clothes fall off most of the times he uses his quirk. Torso and buttocks are seen."²
Immodesty (in both men and woman) is sinful; it is wicked. This is not good for the Christian to watch. In the Bible, these two verses are seen:
"In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;" (1 Timothy 2:9)
"And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach:" (Exodus 28:42)
As we can see, a woman is to be modest, and the priests (Aaron's sons) were to have their nakedness covered. The Bible does not teach a man is exempt from covering up. Both of these verses are violated by My Hero Academia.
Soapy Mouth
The whole spectrum of bad language appears in this show.² I obviously won't repeat what is said, but the Bible condemns such language. We are told to "put off...filthy communication out of your mouth" (Colossians 3:8), "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth" (Ephesians 4:29), and to "speak the praise of the LORD" (Psalm 145:21).Redness of Eyes
There is "Alcohol and tobacco use. Some fictional drugs are used to augment powers." Alcohol and drug use is against Scripture. We are commanded by God to be sober. When alcohol is being consumed and drugs taken, you will become unsober.
"But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation." (1 Thessalonians 5:8)
We also see specifically alcohol addressed in the Bible. In Proverbs it speaks much about the danger and sinfulness of alcoholic drinks.
"[29] Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? [30] They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. [31] Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. [32] At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. [33] Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things. [34] Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast. [35] They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again." (Proverbs 23:29-35)
We are commanded to not even look upon wine! Much less are we allowed to drink it. The shows we watch should not contain something we're told not to even look at.
Conclusion
Quite short for such a popular show, I know. However, this is enough to disqualify My Hero Academia from a Christian's watch list. It contains things which God does not condone but rather explicitly forbids in Scripture.
