This anime is about a student council president, Miyuki, and his vice president, Kaguya. It is a battle between the two, each trying to get the other to confess their love first. Hence, "love is war."¹
Explicit Content
This show contains some inappropriate and immodest things. Such things include:
"Some skimpy swimsuits are briefly glimpsed during a beach sequence."
"There is fan service in the OVA episode."²
Speaking of the OVA specifically, it is literally porn just minus the coitus. It's utterly wicked. The Bible is very explicit in stating that a woman is supposed to be modestly dressed (1 Timothy 2:9). There is a part in an episode dedicated to talking about undergarments. Pictures of various undergarments can be seen, including an image of a man in only undergarments.
In the same vein, there is a maid of Kaguya's who cross-dresses. There is also a "male student [who] wears a school uniform of a female student for his cheerleading event."² This contradicts the Scriptures, which state that a man is to wear men's clothing and a woman women's clothing.
"¶ The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God." (Deuteronomy 22:5)
Language
There is inappropriate language found in this anime as well.² There is corrupt speech. Paul tells us in Ephesians:
"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers." (Ephesians 4:29)
This is how we ought to live. We should not be purposefully subjecting our ears and minds to bad words. To do so is to violate Jehovah God's clear commands.
Mockingly Quoting the Bible
When Miyuki and Kaguya kiss (which they shouldn't be doing, that is a sin as they're unmarried), a character named Karen sees it. She falls over, saying "Canaan", i.e., "the promised land." A kiss is not the promised land! It then quotes Luke 1:78-79.³
"[78] Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, [79] To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace." (Ibid.)
This "comical moment" is mocking the Bible. Remember, it is quoting it within the context of her passing out from seeing a kiss. Apparently, this kiss was "the dayspring from on high" visiting us? This kiss was Him "giv[ing] light to them that sit in darkness"? Is it God "guid[ing] our feet into the way of peace"?
That is utterly wicked. God teaches that kissing is between a married couple. For example, the only kissing we see in the Bible that is on the lips is in Song of Solomon 1:2 and 4:11. Notice, Song of Solomon 1:2 is what she wants, Song of Solomon 4:11 is when it is actually fulfilled. No other kissing in the Bible is on the lips.
So not only is it mocking the Bible, saying some random kiss is God visiting us, but it also is calling the Lord to sanction sin!
Conclusion
It is obvious that this show does not care about what the Bible says, isn't it? It doesn't matter if you quote the Bible if you're going to completely disregard it both when you're quoting it as well as everywhere else. This is a bad anime that should not be watched.
