Creatures called Kegare live in a "parallel realm" called Magano. Benio Adashino and Rokuro Enmadou, two exorcists, are prophesied to be the Twin Star Exorcists—the parents of the Miko. The Miko will cleanse the world of all impurities, or Kegare¹ (the Japanese word 穢れ (kegare) refers to "uncleanness" or "defilement"²).
Profanity
This anime contains terrible language.³ Holy Writ is clear in its command that there is power in the tongue, both to bless and to curse, to bless and to set on fire of hell.
"And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell." (James 3:6)
The tongue can defile our whole body. Jesus told us that the things that come from our mouths are those that defile us (Matthew 15:18). There is nothing good that can come from inappropriate language and profanity.
"Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners." (1 Corinthians 15:33)
Paul tells us to "Be not deceived". That means someone was trying to deceive the Corinthian believers into thinking that hanging around sinful material wouldn't affect them. But Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, refutes any such notion, saying that evil lifestyles and evil ways will corrupt the good manners of those around them.
When we watch anime, or shows in general, that contain sinful things, or in this case, profanity, it will affect you! Scripture reveals that Lot, though a saved man, was vexed daily by hearing and seeing the men of Sodom and their wickedness (2 Peter 2:7-8). What we listen to will take its toll on the believer's soul.
Inappropriate Clothing
Crunchyroll, which is by no means a Christian organization, states that this show contains "Sexualized Imagery" and "Suggestive Dialogue".³ Such things are not pleasing to God. In the day of the LORD, at the end of the time of Jacob's trouble, God will punish "the princes, and the king's children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel" (Zephaniah 1:8). Strange clothing does exist, and it does not please the LORD. Another type of clothing God does not like is the "attire of an harlot" (Proverbs 7:10). There are objective standards by which God judges clothing.
The Bible tells us that a person's nakedness is from the "waist unto the thigh" (Exodus 28:42), or, as we might say, from the waist, covering the thigh. Now, that verse is about the priests, but for defining what nakedness is, that's a good example, which is supported elsewhere (Isaiah 20:2-4, 47:1-3). Women are commanded to be modestly dressed:
"[9] In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; [10] But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works." (1 Timothy 2:9-10)
However, Benio is not covered properly per the Scriptures. Because of this, she would be wearing the "strange clothing" or the "attire of an harlot". We should not be watching and looking at things like this!
Demonic Activity
The Kegare are demonic, people-eating⁴ entities with the kuji-kiri ("nine syllable cuts"⁵) on their bodies.⁶ The kuji-kiri is used in Shugendō and Shingon Mikkyō⁷, esoteric Buddhist religions. This should already raise some red flags. It is bringing evil, esoteric symbolism into your house!
"Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing." (Deuteronomy 7:26)
We are to detest and abhor abominations. That is not where it ends, however. Not only does it bring esoteric religion into your home, it also promotes it, as if you can control it. One of the main characters, Rokuro, is a Kegare, although this is exclusive to the anime.⁸ Regardless of anime or manga, he has an "Impurity Arm", which grants him great power.⁸
He and Benio can multiply each other's power via an ability known as Resonance.⁸ As mentioned, in the anime, Rokuro is, himself, a Kegare. This means that Benio, a human, gets multiplied power from a demonic entity—a "good one." It's also worth mentioning that there's a clear romance between Rokuro and Benio, between Kegare and human.
Trying to portray demonic beings as humanoid, as having any potential to be good, and to bring forth another being, the Miko, that would cleanse the world of impurities, sounds like something Satan himself would concoct. The Bible tells us there will be peace and safety during the AntiChrist's reign.
"For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape." (1 Thessalonians 5:3)
Is it too far-fetched to believe the Miko is none other than the AntiChrist? When King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream, he asked his wise men to tell him what it was. The Lord revealed the dream to Daniel in a night vision. This vision is of the image, whose feet were a mixture of iron and clay. Clay is a picture of man, and iron of spirits. A characteristic of the AntiChrist kingdom will be the mixing of demonic and fleshly. Quite literally, this anime is helping set the stage for the kingdom of AntiChrist.
"¶ A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them." (Leviticus 20:27)
Anyone who sought to be affiliated with devils was condemned to death in the Old Testament. Benio and Rokuro have an ability allowing them to hear the voices of the Kegare. That's spirit communication! 2 Corinthians 11:14 tells us that "Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light." Would not Satan have his involvement in bringing to pass the AntiChrist—the Miko? Could it be that Rokuro is Satan and the Miko the coming AntiChrist?
Witchcraft
On the topic of powers, Benio can shoot "a powerful beam" through what is called Glory Impulse.⁹ She does this by "concentrating energy into one of her swords".⁹ This is literal witchcraft. Nothing godly can come from this!
"[10] There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or
an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, [11] Or a charmer,
or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
[12] For all that do these things are an abomination unto the
LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them
out from before thee." (Deuteronomy 18:10-12)
Controlling "energy," which is what the esoteric groups do through the mudras, part of kuji-kiri, is being practiced by Benio. She poured energy into the sword to "enchant" it and make it release all that energy upon her foe.
Conclusion
This anime contains devilish activities. As I mentioned earlier, we are commanded not to even have this stuff in our houses, lest we become accursed like it! Satan is influencing the next generation through desensitization to the demonic. He has pretty much numbed people to immodesty, and now to witchcraft and devils. It's right before their eyes, and they don't recognize the things they are letting into their minds. Do not be deceived!
