Pokémon

Pokémon was a show many grew up watching. People will certainly feel personally attacked when I speak of the wicked things found in the show. Many have spoken on Pokémon long before me, and they have been ridiculed—I am not expecting any other response.

Immodesty

Just like the average anime in which there are beach episodes, the woman are in bikinis.¹ On top of this, woman are in tight-fitting and revealing clothing.

"Various female characters-notably the recurring character of Jessie-wear clothing that is revealing, tight-fitting, or both."¹

"As is typical with anime, female characters wear short skirts, breast-enhancing tops."²

Bikinis, short skirts, tight clothing, etc. are anything but modest. It's utter filth. As Paul relays to us:

"In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;" (1 Timothy 2:9)

When a show has immodesty in it, especially a show aimed towards children, it affects the way they think about clothing. They begin to see short skirts and the like as acceptable as they see it at home. Even for adults it degenerates the mind when you fill your mind with those sinful things.

Transvestism

As the IMDb page states:

"Occasional adult humor and fanservice (e.g. Adult fantasies, crossdressing, offensive dialogue)"¹

The other things are not okay, but focusing specifically on cross-dressing, the Bible calls that an abomination.

"¶ The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God." (Deuteronomy 22:5)

A man is supposed to be a man! A woman is supposed to be a woman! In fact, the Bible lists effeminate (i.e., a man who is feminine) as a sin in 1 Corinthians 6:9.

There is a character named James who is a male yet has breasts and is seen in a bikini. Whether this character is biologically a male or female, it is promoting the LGBT and transgender movement. God made men as men and women as women.

Blasphemy

The words "gee" and "gosh" used in Pokémon.¹ The words gosh and gee are euphemisms for God and Jesus respectively. This anime takes the LORD's name in vain.

"Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain." (Exodus 20:7)

"Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain." (Deuteronomy 5:11)

The LORD does not hold
Pokémon voice actors/script writers/etc. guiltless. He holds them GUILTY of taking His name in vain! As long as God is against them, I will never be for them.

Red in the Cup

There are "a few scenes [which] show adults drinking beer or wine."¹ The Bible tells us to not even look at alcohol!

"Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright." (Proverbs 23:31)

Clearly they didn't follow the Bible. If they had, they would have been abstinent from drinking. These are not people who love God.

Familiar Spirits and Witchcraft

The pokémon have magical powers. Magic (also called witchcraft) is wrong.

"[10] There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, [11] Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. [12] For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee." (Deuteronomy 18:10-12)

God hates the magic, but it also says He hates the actual "consulter" that deals with familiar spirits. He hates the person. Yet we have these pokémon (which are familiar spirits) being used to fight. God hates that!

You may object and claim that not all the pokémon are spirits, but may I mention that angels are spirits yet they were able to manifest in Genesis 19? Plus, there are ghost type pokémon, so those are for sure familiar spirits.

"¶ A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them." (Leviticus 20:27)

Need we any more witness? Pokémon is not an innocent children's show. It's a way to get people used to the idea of devils and ghosts—to get them used to familiar spirits.

Conclusion

As we have found, Pokémon is not as innocent as one would think at first glance. We must try the spirits (1 John 4:1). The spirits behind a blaspheming, ghost-acclimation show like Pokémon are not from the Holy Spirit of God.

  1. James does NOT have breasts. He simply disguised himself as a woman to infiltrate a beauty contest. Those breasts are fake and inflatable. Nothing to do with the LGBT or transgender. Besides, James is the VILLAIN.

    1. 1. It seems you're trying to "tone down" the criticism when you say "disguise" rather than just calling it what it is — an abomination in the sight of God.

      2. Here's what the Pokémon wiki has to say about him:

      "In some episodes throughout the series, James has a tendency to cross-dress, which was shown frequently in the original anime."

      Frequently he is shown cross dressing? Him doing it one time is already evil, but multiple times? That's even worse.

      3. Being a transvestite in any capacity is wickedness. So yes, cross-dressing brings people from normal to the LGBT movement.

    3. So what? When did God ever say "It's okay for villains to do XYZ in media"? Hint: He never said that. God holds all to the same standard, and if they fail, then it's sinful.

Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence

For this anime, it was hard to pin anything down. Not because there aren't things in it, but because neither IMDb nor Common Sense Media have anything written about its contents. I had watched this show soon after it was released (yes, I used to watch anime) so most of what I say is based upon my memory, but I tried to find sources for accuracy. Christian Anime Podcast Exposed

"Fiction doesn't condone sin." - Kenyon Bowers There is a YouTuber with a couple thousand subscribers known as "Christian Anime Podcast." He claims he is "The leading Christian voice on AniTube"¹ and promotes what he calls "Christian anime." However, there are some things we can learn and reasons to avoid him. This is not meant to just attack him personally, but rather to inform and to show the results of his stance. First , he labels wicked things "Christian." There are so many examples of this. I would like to reference a specific one, however. " That Time My Wife Reincarnated as an Elementary Schooler is a Christian anime."² What does he mean that such an anime is a Christian anime?
